Window Rubber
 

Is it possible to replace the window rubber, or guide without removing regulator etc?
Just had the regulator replaced on my DX driver side door. The window travels on the outside of the channel at the rear of the door ( clear as mud? ). The shop that install it said it is because the rubber is " rotten " at the bottom.
I gave them $66 to put the regulator in....I'm hoping to not have to remove it again to put rubber in......now I need to find the rubber.... :pout:

Forgot to add....I think this is why the regulator must have failed in the first place, as the window is a bit hard to get up near the top of travel. ( new owner of this car so was pre-existing problem )

It sounds like all you need to do is just pop the door skin, unbolt the glass from the regulator and manouver the glass back into the tracks properly then re-attach to the regulator (2x 10mm bolts).

It's not hard to do, but make sure you have another person there to help you...nothing worse then dropping the glass down in the door and having it get smashed...(been there, done that....lol).

It may also be that the rubber in the track is messed, you can inspect it properly when you have the glass out.

I can see that the rubber is missing a section on the outside read of the opening. If the glass is lowered below that point...it runs outside it when you put it back up. For now I may well put a "block" inside the door of the right size so the window onlt goes down so far.
When you say skin....are you meaning the outside sheet metal or the upholstered panel?

common issue. happened to my old hatch, also happened to my coupe and to my sedan, lol. Just replace that rail and your good to go.

"Rail"......ok...I'm into British cars not used to Honda. lol..so by rail do you mean the vertical rubber?. This is a window out job?

on either side of the window theres two rails that hold it in place. I can take a picture of one tomorrow if you would like.

I know of a car in a salvage yard....so if the rubber is OK on that one, I can get this done.

If you're into British cars then you should know what I mean when I say door "card" instead of door "skin"...lol

I should have actually said door "panel". And yes, by that I mean the inner upholstered panel.

just lube it up with spray silicone... same thing happened with my window when I replaced my regulator.... it kept popping out of the track.

I hear you...but it appears the problem was there before I got it...and the reason for regulator failure. The silicone is a good idea regardless...you spray this on the vertical rubber?
And yes...door CARD is what I understand clearly...lol

^ yes. what you want to do is spray the "silicone rubber" (yellow can at ctire/walmart, "silicone lubricant") in the actual vertical (what you call it) rubber, the one that guides the window where to go. spray plenty of it, and lower the window, raise the window, several, several times. i do mine once a month. and works like butter, twice a month during the winter months. spray it on both vertical rubbers. make sure you spray in the channel, and not on the outside. some common sense, and you'll do fine. :thumb:

That silicone stuff should definitely help...

Had to do that with mine, glass kept coming out of the rail at the front. Common issue.
