Sounds as though your cousin has his nuts in the death grip of a meth crazed ********** junkie.;) Or mechanically I'd check the a/c idler pulley if equipped.

Was the car shut off at the end of the clip or did it stall? IF it stalled the distributor could be the source of the noise.

car was shut off at the end ...i thought it was the distributor also but it doesnt usually make noise

It's not a belt, a/c clutch or the dizzy, imo.

It sounds to me like the starter motor shaft isn't retracting properly and it's not disengaging with the flywheel, hence the horrible noise. Like when you try to start your engine when it's already running, same sound.

Pull the starter motor off, clean it and rebuild it, or replace it. ;)

When my dist started to make noise it was similar to your cousin's noise....at first. Then it became much more frequent until the bearings in the dist seized and the engine stalled and wouldn't turn over fast enough to restart. Try looking inside the dist cap for shrapnel and /or a heavy rust powder throughout.

Strange. I've never ever heard a dizzy make noise.

If it's coming from the distributor side of the engine, remove the distributor and check to see if the bearing is seized or not.

Have you found the source of the noise yet?
