Seafoam again!!
 

I know there has a few threads about this stuff and i was looking through some of the older ones. For those who have done it, its a 473ML bottle and how much should i run through the tank, vacuum line and through the spark plug holes? Also someone said that its available at carquest but called a place and checked the website with no luck :( So if someone has gotten it from there could ya pm me please? If no where carries it around here than i might a trip to scarborough, so if some peeps want some post up here :)

i would put 1/3 gas tank, 1/3 before you change your oil and 1/3 through the vacuum line.

is it necessary to feed it through the vacuum line? i've been itching to try out some sea foam too but i have no idea where to get it. plus i heard its bad for motors with high mileage? my motor is running about 277k so would it still be safe to try it?

vacuum line will clean ur IM manifold and inside the engine nicely so id recommend it, thats where u see the most black soot come from. for high mileage motors it can be bad because u could end up burning oil after because ur removing the build up from inside the engine.

I usually use 2 bottles per car.

i got mine from carquest here in hamilton. I split it up into 3 equal parts using old water bottles and put some in the IM through the vacuum line for the brake booster, some into the crankcase (where the oil goes) and some into the gas tank.
It worked pretty good for me when i used it, car smoked like a chimney for a while though.

Ditto. The Carquest on Parkdale Ave has it. My car didn't smoke that much, only when I started to feed it throught the vacuum line into the IM.

i got a special tool that dispenses it through the vacuum line while its running, or should i do it as it says on the bottle?

yeah i agree 2 bottles is probably ideal. When i did mine i put a full bottle in the gas tank when i filled up and then 1/2 and 1/2 in the crankcase and through the vacuum line.

I just took the line connected to the pcv valve and slowly sucked the liquid through there. It only smoked when I did that aswell. Also its suggested to run the stuff through the IM and then shut the car down for i believe 5 minutes and then start it back up and take it for a spin

what about it being in the crankcase? can i drive around for a few days or how does it work?

I will probably thin out your oil a tiny bit and it will get dirtier from the crap its cleaning. Just get it changed within a few days. Check my DIY on the main page. The pics still work.

I changed the oil 3 days after using the seafoam and boy was that oil dirty. And my last oil change before the seafoam was only like 1900 miles ago.

ya im having the problem of my oil getting really dirty so hopefully it'll help that out

yup its best to drive it for like a couple days and hten change the oil and it should work wonders.

I drove with seafoam in there for like a month. cleaned out a whole pile of sludge, and since my beater burns some oil I just kept feeding it fresh oil. it did a great job and helped my oil consumption a whole lot!!! and bumped up my oil pressure a lil bit too. my beater runs soooo mint now!
