Sad but Funny!
A friend of a friend has a 2000 civic, im not sure what she was doing but she wanted to remove the valve cover and she ended up breaking all 5 screws that hold down the cover LOLOLOL...(strong girl) she said she "thought you were supposed to turn right to unscrew" hahah...now she cant put the cover back on and is screwed...my buddy told me she's gonna get a whole new motor cuz of that lol...what a waste of money over something so stupid...but i guess you cant drive without a valve cover hehe...

haha!
Is it an SiR? :D |
You learn things the hard way.
|
I don't think you'll need a new motor....take it to a shop, they might be able to do something....
|
remove cover, take wrench and unscrew whats left of the bolts.
Get new bolts, put on cover. |
this is not as severe as you make it sound.. all you need is new valve cover bolts. the old ones are long enough to remove with a vice grip when they are broken
|
it is turn left to unscrew...and the bolts are easily replacable

righty tighty, lefty loosey
|
Clockwise tighten, that's how I remember it.

When I put my VC back on, I turned the bolts in the sequense in the Honda manual and to a point where my hand felt resistance then I stopped.
Not to a point where I cannot turn it with my arm no more, but with a regular strength, as if you were swinging the wrench freely with your hand type of strength. |
I think post might be BS cuz either it is BS or this is the stupidest person in the world. You'd think after you broke say 2, you'd stop!

lol i dunno, oh well she got a new engine out of it (good excuse hah)...ohh and i dunno if it is an sir tego...
|
I don't get it! Who paid for the new engine? I guess your buddy got a engine for cheap then?
|
just call a machine shop they will do it for under $100.........take out all 5 bolts man....how hard is that...
|
lol same thing happened to me on my 98 civic. in florida i tried to take them off.. and note: i did take them off the right way and they snaped.. omg pissed me off so bad.. but eventually took them off and got new bolts.. they like 30 dls its cheaper than a new motor..
|
i went to the junkyard and took all the valve cover studs I could find...now I have a stockpile of em...anybody need d-series valve cover studs?
