Oil Changes & Warrenty Q?

Hi,

I just have a quick question regarding oil changes and warrenty with Honda Canada.

I have an 06 Civic EX and I forgot to get an oil change today. I'm down to 10% on my oil life and I have to drive at least 400 more KM back to Petawawa tomorrow (which should bring me down to 5%).

Could I do my own oil change w/o voiding the new car warrenty?
I think it's ok alongs I have an OEM oil filter.

As long as you are using an oil that meets or exceeds OEM specs, it doesn't matter what brand you use, or who does the oil changes.

man you can wait till you get back home or where ever. its all good. you will actually more likely to void your warranty if you do it your self as if you wait to do it at the dealership or where ever.

i do oil cahnges and drive cleans at a dealership and i never give anyone hassels. you really cant cause people can only service the car when they can right??

i would recommened you wait till you get to the dealership to get it done cause your less likely to have the warranty voided.

Well it's a little late now.

I finally got around to changing my oil last night. I was @ 5% on my oil life meter and there's no way I could've made it back to Toronto without it going to 0%. I got 11,510KM before I had to do my first oil change. :D

I guess I could've went to the Pembroke Honda dealership, but they screwed up an oil change on my 2000 SiR once. Like HELL I'll let them touch my car again.

BTW: I used Mobil 1 5w20 & an Honda OEM filter. Also I kept the sales slips and logged the KM in my owners manual.

you wont have problems doing it yourself no matter what these guys say.

keep receipts for the oil and filter and document whenever you do the oil changes in the log book.
if honda ever asks for proof you can show them receipts and the log you have kept.

Oh ... didn't you know that if you put in Amsoil, they will automatically extend your warranty 6 months with each oil change? .... hahaha .... just kidding ....
