Oil Changers Emissions Test

Can someone clarify this for me....

I go to get my car emissions tested at Oil Changers and I explain to the attendant that my car has a GSR in it and not a 1.6 Si engine...the goof ball tells me not to worry that he is going to test it as a 1.6 cause that is what my car is...i get into a bit of an arguement saying that its going to be tested against different specs...he insists that it has to be test with the 1.6 si ratings...I told him that he can test it as whatever he wants but if it doesnt pass i wouldnt pay him cause he didnt test it properly....

Anyways it passed but not by much...

Is what he did correct or shouldnt he be testing it as a "hot rod" or "modified" vehicle?

If the car was not available with the engine you have swap it can be tested as a hot rod (eg. gsr swap) if the car was available with that engine it has to be tested as stock (eg. B16 swap) i know a guy with a 2000 mustang with a carburated chevy 350 it that passed under the hot rod rule. I don't know if your insurance will like it however they may drop you better off to try to get it passed under the stock rules.

could be, but most people refer to the B18C1 as a GSR (more common)

to be able to test it as a hot rod, you need a document from the dealer to say that engine was never offered in that vehicle.
