hi guys, thanks for accepting me here. I'd like to introduce myself, name is guibbo 21y/o. I have a 1995 civic ex coupe. My question about my car for now is that, I have this tiny high pitched squeaking noise after i drive my car around for alil. It isn't too loud but it is loud enough to hear it. I am suspecting it's my timing belt and needs to be replaced/fixed. But when I had it checked at a local auto shop, he said it was my alternator. I really think it's my timing belt, but I'd want my alternator replaced as well since he really thinks thats the problem. He quoted me at $450 for the timing belt, water pump and everything, $250 for the alternator. Is that a reasonable price? if not how much should it be? or anyone can recommend a affordable shop specializing in HONDAS around lakewood, norwalk, artesia california?

can't help you for shops around your area, however a timing belt won't usually make noise unless it was poorly installed to begin with.

I got all the parts for a t/b job incl water pump for about $150 and did it myself. the price really does depend on the quality of the parts that are used. I went with goodyear t/b and OEM waterpump, tensioner... and i did the valve gasket seals at the same time.

for the alternator, you can get one from rock auto and swap it out. they run about a hundred or so i guess.

prob 1 hr labor for the alternator, about 4 hr labor on the timing belt but i'm going by my experience, i have no idea what the shop charges actually are.
