motor trouble

i got a 90 civic dx with an si motor (d16a6) when i turn the key the engine light goes on and there a noise that sounds like in the left side of the dash and if i move around some wires under the intake manifold the noise stops sometimes.car will only start if the noise is off. i was told it was a bad ground. the wiring under the hood looks like a 2 year old kid had something to do with it. i had it running for two days i was driving it up and down the street it drove fine under am guessing 3000 or 4000rpm if i tryed going more then 3 or 4 grand it felt like the car was going to stall. after those two days am lucky if the car makes it up and down my driveway. i looked at the ecu and the light flashed 20 times. have no clue whats wrong need the car running very soon hopefully someone makes out what i just typed and they can help me out thanxs:

hey brah! seems to me you have multiple problems. HONEST TO GOD, what I'd do is wait till summer, pull the motor out, and reinstall correctly.

Code 20 - The ELD measures elecrical load in the car, it helps the ECU anticipate what it needs to do to hold the idle speed steady. In my cars it's built into the fusebox in the engine compartment. I think that location is kinda typical for Honda.

It won't keep your engine from starting & running

The 3-4 K rpm problem is a massive misfire
it is due MOST LIKELY to a bad ignitor in the distributor.

Agin, I'd redo the whole install and do it right!!

even at the body shop, if you want it done right, I'd wanna have the engine and everything out anyways.

to get the car running asap, you have to be more specific with the noise and location of the wires under the manifold. there are A LOT of wires running under the mani. Well, you can rewire that part of it, and replace you distributor, odds are the car will start and run no problem. the code 20 may even go away, but who knows... it doesn't matter tho cuz the car will still run fine w/o it.

you mean the noise??

I've never heard a bad ground call for help so I dunno

really tho man... esp if someone else did the wiring... you gotta get down to it and redo it. then replace your distributor, and the car will be mint.

no prob man... look, do the wiring according to this:

http://www.geocities.com/c_rexboy/mpfi.html

as for the dx distributor.... hmmm... I truly don't know... go to slhondaparts.com and look at the part numbers. or just try swapping it... if it runs, it'll work If it doesn't work, take the dizzy apart and swap the ignitor out, cuz odds are they are the same. That should fix your problem.

Hope that helps.
