Manual transmission fluid flush

Hey how in the world do you get the trans fluid into the fill hole on the transmission? It's on the side!

Does the bottle top fit into the hole, or do I need some kind of special funnel?

I use a funnel with a tube maybe 12" long and fill it from the top. When the fluid strats to leak out, it's full. Some people do it from the top of the tranny by removing the VSS, but I wouldn't want to damage the sensor accidentally and I've read that you can overfill the tranny by the VSS method.

Cool pictures on that thread!

Great now that I know how to change the fluid I think I'll do itmore often.

How often are you suppost to change it BTW?

DumbasSi 05-Jul-2005 12:18 PM

I do mine once a year just because I know how to. Check your owners manual. My Civic is getting older, so I'm trying to get into the habit of changing ALL the fluids on a more regular basis.

Sorry for bring this back up but I was wondering if it would be the same for a sir?

I don't see why not, seeing as the 2000 SIR is pretty much the same engine.
