help! car keeps shutting off while driving

Hello all,

I am going to be selling my 98 civic cx hatch but before i do that I'd like to diagnose a problem I've been having. The car keeps shutting off while driving, it happens about once a day. It started about 3 weeks ago and It would start back up right away, I would just drop it into neutral and start her back up. Now it takes me a good 4 to 5 tries before i get her to stay on. I’ve been told it could be the fuel pump also ive been told it could be the ignition switch. Any help would be appreciated.

when it stalls test for fuel and spark.

I doubt its an ignition switch, typically with ignition switches, it'll fire back up or you'll be able to notice a different feeling in the switch itself

Sounds like the main relay or fuel pump.

It is ignition switch, it happend to me today on the highway. All power shuts off, turn signals don't work, just rolling along looking like an idiot. It happens specifically when I switch my signal indicator on. I hear a sparking sound like a short and then kaput. there was a factory recall on it, but only on specific VINs. Anyone else having the problem, check it out to see if yours apply. Mine unfortunatley did not. I even contacted the government to have Honda consider it a recall without luck. The only way to put it into recall is to have a Honda mechanic inpect it and report it to headquarters. I have yet to do this. Thinking of making my own ignition system...
