Battery light ?????????

LAst night flyin home from work in my Ek and the battery light flipps on stays on till I got gas and then after gas off and on most of the ride home.

Get to my street goes off won't come back on....

So I did a little testing... Tested the alterantor with a screwdriver (didn't have a volt meter last night so I tryed the screwdriver If the screwdriver attracts to the pulley while the cars running the car is charging.)

Also tryed running all the options then I disconnected the battery with all options running and the light wouldn't come back on...

Need help Anyone else experienced this ?????

i have the same problem once in a while. Dont know what to have checked out cuz everytime i take it in to the mechanic, the battery light doesnt stay on so they dont do any test. Sometimes the thing flashes randomly and other times it stay on solid. Happens to me once a month sometimes and other times it happens once every couple of months. I have no friggen idea of wha to do because the mechanic says "no light on, you are fine" Let me know if you figure out what this is.

The battery light is controlled by a switch in the alternator. It turns on when there is no power from the alt. Hondas are known for the light coming on but the alt. still charges. Have your alt. checked for charging (AVR test Amperage, Voltage and Resistance test). If it charges then you are good. If you want to totally sove the problem then get a new alt.

yeah thanks I pulled it last night I found that my alt is charging at like 19v so it's over charging big time... So I dunno but that could be the cause of your problem aswell because my light came on afew times before on and off. Could be your voltage regulator which is internal with the alt so maybe we have similar problems... Either way the fix is a new alt....

Thanks

some hondas have the ability to stop the alt from charging to save gas but cant see it turning the idiot light on.
