Getting the car ready 4 winter

whats involved?
i have an EF, so knowing its an old car i wana get everything in check

1. oil change
2. tune up (cap/spark plugs)
3. coolants
4. rust proofing

am i missing anything?

wheres the cheapest place to do a tune up and check everything? (crappy tire?)

If you have the tools, these tasks are relatively simple to tackle.

I would recommend Leading Edge (the Newman brothers) for tune ups, buy your own parts and just pay for labour. You won't regret it.

depending on your considition of your EF, I'd rust proof it also...

I hear good things about Krown...

^^ i have the tools but not the time with work and school, exams coming up
this thread can also help other newbies with winter maintenence :)
what else is there to consider for maintence?

** rust proofing added to the list

winter tires?

Nova_Dust 27-Sep-2006 04:17 PM

I would go to Leading Edge for tune up and Krown for rust proofing.

sell the car so you dont have to worry about this every year

imported_t_dot_SiR 27-Sep-2006 08:08 PM

you're better off paying someone to do it for you, spend the time to make the money and do school work.... and you're also having those tune-up done right =)

oh yeah, check your battery too.. make sure its nice... you dont' want a battery that is dying soon in the winter, not a good thing haha

imported_egb18c 27-Sep-2006 08:51 PM

maintenance is done based on time and/or mileage, not seasons

imported_starboy869 27-Sep-2006 10:08 PM

however clean & check your battery / terminals

well for people who aren't as discaplined with maintenance, before winter is a good time...

scott newman or doug newman @ leading edge... i normally talk to scott... you better talk to him early, he's always busy and your appointment might be a week later.... quality people are usually busy... haha

wax the whole car including the door jams

Get the car oil sprayed at Reg's autobody. He uses 2 different types of oil (thick for undercarraige, and thin for panels)- we get all 3 of our cars done there, $115 cash. Right beside Noyz Boyz.
