EF tail light puzzle
 

I have checked and replaced the faulty bulbs in the tail light/signal/brakelight assy's and they all (including license bulb) illuminate properly including brake and turn signals. EXCEPT when I turn the ignition on - as soon as I do the rear running lights extinguish .... the headlights stay on though. If I turn the ignition off - everything is normal/functioning again! Has anyone come across this b4 ??? got me stumped!! Thanks

After more research I fixed what apparently "was" a common problem on the early Civics with DRL module. The two solder joints holding the mechanical solenoid to the DRL circuit board had separated - based on other sites - the fix was to remove and re-solder... working fine now.

Happened in my ef, just changed the DRL and bingo!

thanks - hope you didn't pay too much for the replacement module - the hardest part is unscrewing it from the underside of the dash .. after that it was a 25 minute job to remove the circuit board, find the two bad conections, resolder them and slip the board back in the box. Installation went a lot faster.

they are useless
