distributor question

distributor question
Hey TCC

I bought a dizzy today from a jdm store and my question is does it matter if the dizzy is for a vtec engine or not? The guy at the store told me it doesnt but research on the internet tells me differently lol. Its a d16y8 engine that the dizzy is going onto.

What does matter is if it's for OBD1 or OBD2. Even then, there is an easy way to convert it.
