Check Engine Code Help - P1457
Can anyone help with a mystery check engine code I've got. I had it read and it's P1457 EVAP system leak. My ride is a 99 DX hatch. I tried swapping gas caps and that wasn't it. As well, Honda said that they tested the bypass selinoid, the 2 way selinoid, and the fuel tank pressior sensors. I've tried resetting the light and it keeps coming back on...I find mostly when I'm on the highway. Does anyone know what it might be?

This is not an easy code to diagnose. Even with the most experienced Honda/Acura technician working on it. Do you know if they did a function test and if it passed or not? Do you know if they checked the cannister vent shut valve? I would have looked there first on your vehicle.
The gas cap rarely throws a P1457, usually, if it was the cap, it would be a P1456. Well, all I can say is to take it to a dealer... By the way, what is your mileage? Your car still might be covered under the emissions warranty. |

I had an Acura come in to my shop last week with that code, ended up being the wiring under the rear seat. Water had leaked in and wires were corroded.

Hmm...it's funny you say that because I'm getting water in my trunk. I'll look under the rear seat to see if it's there too...could be the same thing. Why would this trip the fuel emissions system code?

The wire for the 2 way bypass valve comes up threw the floot under the seat. It could be corroded or shorting out
