Charging a/c system - R12
Hey,
I didn't know where to put this question that I have so I decided to put it in misc. (savest). Well, i am looking to go down to the US to see if i can get my old teg's a/c charged with either R12 or Freeze 12. My question is - has anyone ever done it and if so, where did you go in the US to get it done? I know that Ebay sells them (freeze12), but I was told that I need to get a vacuum pump to create a vacuum in order to suck the refrigerant into the system. Let me know what you guys have done in order to get your a/c working again - cause the weather is getting HOT! |
Have someone here take a look at it, and see how much it would cost to change your system over to 134. You might be better off in the long run doing it that way.

I am not looking at converting since the car is not worth the cost....as well, I hear that r134 is not as cool. Thus, I am wondering MORE about freeze 12 in the US.
Has anyone gotten it done? Did you have to use a vacuum pump? thanks |
well first off you have a leak somwhere in the system....get it charged with hydro carbons...it's cheap easy and legal here to charge it as many times as you want...first off though get your leaky evaporator etc fixed
|
I heard that the refrigerant will "leak" out over time due to the seals....is that true? And if it is, then would it be okay for me to recharge it withou repairing the leak (since it is over time).
If I need to check for the leak, can anyone suggest a place to go OR is there anybody in the forum who can do it (fill with hydrocarbons and check for leak)? thanks |
Hey peeps! I know the thread is pretty old but I'm kinda curious if imported_jayjay were able to charge his a/c system and fix the leak on it. Well, my friend would be doing a maintenance on his a/c system too over the weekend and he is having a thought there's a possible leak on the a/c system because sometimes the a/c isn't throwing any cold air. I'm also wondering what's the difference between the R12 and Freeze 12, and which is better. I'll appreciate any update or other opinions about this.
