Bad Gas Mileage

Did some minor mat. on the car this weekend. Install some new NGK plugs and a drop in K&N air filter into the stock air box.

Today I noticed my mileage a bit off. Usally at half a tank I get 350 km but noticed it's around 250 km.

I won't for sure until I fill up next time but could it be the fact that the new air filter is less restrictive so I don't have to step on the gas as much?

u gap the plugs properly??

imported_rbjeepthing 16-Nov-2005 12:37 PM

It's colder this week too idling at start-up and less efficiant in the cold.

Yeah, plugs are gapped at specs from my helm's manual.

Wondering if it was my driving habits for the past couple of days, shall find out by tomorrow.

Ya I think since its been so cold lately, if you compare your mileage to when you tested it when it was definately warmer, there would be a difference.

Am I correct?

yes you are.

Cold air is denser, and the car will automatically pump more fuel to compensate.

holy, how do you guys get 350km on half a tank? I own a 00 SiR, 03 Civic 4dr, and a 98 civic ex and none of them get 350 on half a tank.

Driving habits is the big factor. I tend to not to drive past 120 km / hour.

I think its how and where you drive, if you drive on the highway a lot, and drive around 100, you will get better millage, I get OK millage, but my driving is almost all city, so its to be expected

With a stock ecu shift below 5000 and you should be over 400km/l

phikshin 19-Jun-2009 08:41 PM

I have a stock 97 lx and I only get about 240 on half a tank. Anyway to up this? I want to get around like 500-600+.

morjx 20-Jun-2009 11:33 AM

I have a stock 99 Si. I get around 450 for a full tank. I'm worse off than you haha but I plan on doing a full tune up (plugs, wires etc.) Try that
