Bad Air

Hey Everyone,

So I find myself with something weird happening in my 2001 4-dr Civic LX-G.

When it rains and your windows start to fog up, most people put the air to point to the wind shield and that makes the fog stop and go away. In my car however, that only makes the fog go away with the A/C is running.

If the air is not on the window then the fog comes up at a normal rate and it comes up even faster if I have the air on my wind shield without A/C.

Since this doesn't seem to happen to anyone else I know, has anyone else seen this before?
Does this mean that the air coming out of my vents is dirty or bad in some way or maybe an indication of an engine problem?

Thanks,

When the A/C is on, regardless if you have it set to warm or cold temp, the A/C system dries out the air and that is what removes the condensation (fog) on your windshield.

In most cars when you set it to defrost (which is blowing on the windshield) they automatically turn on the A/C and you should notice the A/C compressor come on. This is so the A/C compressor gets use in the off-season during winter so it doesn't seize and also to dry the air out and remove the fog faster.
