ABS/SRS lights are coming on

Hi all.

I have a 98 civic ex and noticed that the abs and srs (air bags) lights came on. however, the lights are off during driving but come on when i step on the brake pedal. could any one advise me as to what the problem might be?

thanks very much

Get a scan or jump the service connector to see if there are any codes being stored.

update 2: a couple of years ago i installed an aftermarket HID kit. Noticed that the headlights were shutting off while driving and that's when the abs lights come on. so i decided to remove the HID kit and put back the original head lights. The headlights do not shut off anymore and abs lights also do not come on. However, when accelerating the SRS warning light comes on. Even in park and step on the gas pedal, the SRS light comes on. Also noticed that when revving the engine, not only does the SRS light come on, but my headlights get brighter. So, by removing the HID kit, I think I've solved the ABS warning light problem, but not the SRS. Any ideas what it might be causing this malfunction? Thanks in advance

Check alt output at idle and normal cruising rpm. Sounds like you may be overcharging.
Also check your wire harness under the intake and make sure the support bracket for the intake hasn't worn through the harness.

I should proof read a bit better; I think you may be overcharging at higher revs.

Neil.
