Wiper issue revisited

So I posted a thread before about how my wipers wouldnt turn off. So i went today and purchased a new wiper switch assembly as i had been told that is most likely the problem. The thing ended up costing me $100 . Now before I go and install it and ruin any chance of me getting a refund if it doesnt fix the problem I had a couple questions.

First i will say that the wipers wont turn off no matter what position the selector is on and they only go faster when i put it on the highest setting. So now im starting to think maybe it is the relay that is messed up because it stays at the same speed in the off, low and medium position.

Does it sound like its the relay or most likely it is the switch?

Just leave everything alone ...

Well i looked all over under the dash and i cant seem to find any ICU boxes relating to the wipers. I traced the wires from the wiper switch and it seems like they just lead to the engine bay and directly to the wiper motor. Im gonna remove the cover tommorow and see if there is anything under the hood.

First off you shouldn’t have gotten a new switch, there’s enough places to get a used one including this forum. There was a guy parting out a car on the for sale forum for $40 (I think his handle was Preludeking).

Next I doubt you have a switch problem, sounds like the integrated control unit which is somewhere around/on your fuse box.

yeah i was looking for the ICU but i couldnt seem to find anything. I was told it should be a seperate box behind the fuse panel but there isnt anything there. If someone can find a picture or something to show me where it is that would help. one thing im confused about is that the wires from the switch run directly out of the car. There are 2 sets of plugs behind the actual switch and when i disconnect 1 it does nothing?

Also i would rather buy a new switch then a used 1 but if its not the problem then i dont have to worry about it do i?
