water leak question 93 civic SI
recently i've been getting alot of water on the driver side floor of my civic. i was wondering if anyone has had this problem and if so, where i should look for the location of the leak and how to fix it.
thanks for the help |
i found this by doing a search
The leak always eventually finds its way to the lowest point, which is probably the floor behind the driver's seat. If it is coming from the back, it is probably also accumulating in the spare tire well. The first place to look is leaking seals where the taillight assemblies mount against the car body. Also check the rubber seals around the hatch and the doors. If you have a sunroof, look for a clogged or dislodged drain hose. A few more possibilities: Check the drain path in the air inlet at the base of the windshield for clogging with debris or it might be dislodged. If not the above things, look for a leak in the seal around the windshield or hatch glass. |
check the window mouldings

I had a leak on my passenger side floor whenever it rained or when i washed my car and it was coming in from a spot close to where the air inlet is for the heater fan. i couldnt see it if i took off the wiper motor cowell but i had to take off the fender and fix it through there. i read somwhere (cant remember where) that i was a recall on some of those civics. hope dat mite help

there is actually a bulletin on this problem, ask your dealer for more info!
|
bulletin for sure and after speaking to mr. hiroshi kabayashi (vp or general manager of honda canada) i was able to get 50% coverage from the honda dealer in woodbridge hwy 7. It took about 2 weeks of pressure and a video i made but on march 15 2006 they agreed to do the repairs.
bulletin #92-050 - manufacturer defect (water leak from seam under corner of dash) water pools in passenger and or driver side footwells. they only covered 50% of the cost because the bulletin was so old and it only applied to origanal owner of vehical. i pressured them any way and they fixed. Trust me, it was a pain in the &ss to take buckets of water out every time it rained or washed the car. i still have my letters and video of water running down inside if you want it to try and pursue coverage. It came out to $360+ for the one side but I ended up getting them to do the other side because they didn't replace the wheel liner or windshield wiper assembly properly after they finished and i found out on the highway with parts flying off. In total I ened up paying $112 or something. i hate number 7 honda! good luck man |

Just bought a pristine used 1992 Civic EX with only 105k kms on it! Only the normal rust starting on the rear fenders which is no big deal and will be fixed by a reputable body shop.
It started to rain today, and I've had the car for a week with no real rain...and found water in the footwell of the front passenger seat. After checking out the web and reading this post....and the other post....I also found this online for any who may need to use it for their own encounters with the dealership. http://redpepperracing.com/gallery/d...iv_A92-050.pdf It's a pdf of the original Honda service bulletin on this particular problem. I'm going to be contacting Honda Canada on Monday to inform them of the VIN transfer to me as the new (and only 2nd) owner of my civic...and also inquire about my local dealership's (lakeshore) obligations to fix this problem without undo financial hardship to me.....(crossing my fingers). I hope this helps any who have this problem in the future and needed to print out the TSB and have it in hand when they get their H-civic fixed! Cheers! |
