temp gauge not working

Has anyone ever experienced this type of problem. It stopped workng 2 weeks ago and I also got a code 7 from my ecu meaning tps sensor, not sure if both are related but the engine light came on around the same time as the gauge stopped working. The gauge works sometimes but most of the time its at the bottom shut off and sometimes it jumps. The only thing I can think of is the cable behind the cluster is maybe loose or snapped. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should check out. Thanx

Take the cluster out, find the corresponding wire, and check conductivity from the gauge to the water temp sensor to ensure the wire is not broken somewhere. Did you do any work in the area where you could have yanked some wires?? I mean BOTH TPS and CTS at the same time is pretty bizzare.

I see... well, dunno about the Honda CTS, but when the coolant temp sensor went on my Saturn it was to be found on the head. Now, you MAY be running two sensors, one for the ECU, one for the gauge, which is how my Saturn is... the ECU one was dead which is why it sucked back sooo much gas... it thought it was like -50 out, so it used the fuel maps for such cold weather all the time (reallllly realllly rich maps!). The gauge one generally has one wire going to it, the ECU one has two wires. Look for something that is bolted into the head and into the water jacket with this configuration in the area of your tranny I'm sure it's changed by my model, but I'll go downstairs and check my car to give you an idea maybe. But really, you'll need the wiring diagram from someone who has a repair manual for your year Civic. Lemme get back to you in a few minutes....

CT carries Haynes, Walmart carries Chilton.... I like Chilton better, but they are about the same.

Ok, I found two possibilities... it's dark in the garage, so I can't tell for sure... one is under the distributor on the head, just towards the front of the car and slightly lower, and the other one is on the block side of the long - *** coolant hose that runs from the lower rad portion to the block... basically behind and on top of the tranny, just lower of the manifold. That is... if your car uses the same layout for these sensors as my car.

umm... odds are you just forgot to plug it back in, or maybe it worked its way back out, that's all. I'm sure it's nothing major.

No prob BTW
