Post Tech Area Guidelines

This thread is a how-to on using the forums... if your thread gets locked, odds are you'll find the reason why in this thread.

1. this is NOT a price check forum - Alexander G. Bell gave us a telephone, learn to use one. Learn to use www.yellowpages.ca to find shops in your area.

2. this is NOT a forum for you to invite people to come service your car - see #1 on how to find service.

3. the club Administrators have worked hard to align our club with some of the finest affilates in the GTA - make use of that. DON'T ask what shop we think you should go to.... because odds are we think you should go to the affiliates.

4. when you have a question, provide ALL the information you have, mileage, service history, driveability changes, fuel consumption... etc. Also, be preapared to do some work... if you are asking a question, it would be implied that you are going to tackle this yourself. DON'T ask a question, get 3 pages of solid replies, and then say "Great, I'll have ***** Honda dealer take a look at it tomorrow".

5. if you don't have cash lining your pockets, don't waste our time asking questions about how to turbo a Type R. when you have NO cash, surf the net, read other sites, check up on part numbers and part availability as you collect money to do it. By then you should have no questions. If you have questions, you are not ready to tackle the work - do some more research. If you have a truly unique problem, then post it up for help. Like when I was doing my 4 wheel big brakes, my axle was seized into the hub... I knew how it was supposed to come out - but mine just wouldn't budge. I posted up for help.... but ended up finding a solution on my own.

6. Have a coherent post ready before you start a new thread. Be sure you searched every possible combination of words on TCC and on google, then come to us with what you know and an exact question. Is "so-and-so" difficult to do? is NOT an approved question. Maybe you are a spaz, in which case filling up your gas tank would be a difficult thing to do... how do we know what your skill level is?

7. If you bump your thread, I will lock it

8. THINK before you post!! Use your head! Ask yourself "Will this thread help me accomplish what I'm doing?" or "If someone else posted this, would I think it's stupid?" or "When I get my answer, am I not going to USE this answer!" and "Can I source this information elsewhere on the internet?". If you have answered YES to the three questions above... and you thread is locked, don't be surprised.

9. The title of your thread must reflect the content of your thread, to help those who are searching for answers, and also to help those who are willing to help you. In other words, if the title of your thread is "Urgent Help" or "Please Look" or something else *** backwards, I will lock or delete the thread immediately! The title of the thread MUST represent the content within.

10. A post made in all CAPS lock is subject to being deleted. If I deem the problem important enough or helpful enough... I will consider leaving it, but I certainly won't look kindly upon it.
