Something wierd with my panel lighting

Ok, so this is what happened today.

I drive to lab around 5ish, and it's pretty bright out but when I get out of the car at the lab, the buzzer goes off telling me I left my parking lights on. I turn it off and think, that's odd, I don't member turning them on, could they have been on all night? Dismiss it since my battery should be drained if so.

Later in the evening, it's dark now, I go out and turn on my lights, and my temp slider control and that whole panel is dim on the left side (looked like the little bulb went out behind it.) Oh damn, this sucks. ok, i'll get it changed later.

arrive at my destination. I have to go back to pickup someone nearly immediatly. (i restart the car and go). now guess what? The whole panel and all the lights are back. And they are a bit brighter than before. ( i allready tried the dimmer when it had gone out, dimmed it and turned it up. it worked but the left side was still out.)

so now what's up? Did i really leave my lights on all night? and would a weak battery cause this? Did the fairly long highway drives cause the battery to come back to full capacity?

I'd like to know

hahha... duy u're full of jokes man!

the motor will come in due time man. let my warrenty expire first!!!

but other than that, would a dead battery cause those sympotoms? but i figured if it was kinda dead, then the alternator would be powering the car? so i dunno

UPDATE:

ok... so it happened again today! So this time, i shoved my heater control from hot to cold pretty hard and as soon as it hit the left side, the whole panel lit up properly!!!

sooooo, this tells that the bulb behind that part is loose, or the wiring... so sucky!

Actually, I'm having the same problem in mine except mine won't light up at all (bulb is loose or dead or wire) and it also affected my stock gauge panel lighting.. they wouldn't work either.

Regards,
OK

My left side (drivers side) bulb in my climate control panel does the same thing. If I bang on the bottom of the dash at that spot the light comes on. It must be a wire problem and apparently it is a pretty common one.

Dan, no I don't have ANY lights in my cluster.. I have my indiglos light up but they are set to light all the time when the car is running.. I guess Joe hard wired it to a power wire..

On the right side of the steering wheel is my Climate control.... that is alllllllllllll dark!!! I don't think my glove box light works either.

OK

notorious prob in the 5th gens.. I haven't found ONE where at least one light isn't flaky in the climate controls. ah well.. we don't need it anyways... extra drain on the engine!

k - do the buttons light up?

There are two power sources heading into that unit. There is a constant that lights the buttons and then there is a source that comes from the dimmer switch to the left of the steerring wheel that controls the 'back' lighting stuff. Maybe your switch it cooked? You would have to pop the switch out and see if it is a ll wired up still. When we do your bumper we can pop mine out and test it in yours.

not much - three wires and a new plg (if it is the dimmer you may have to look for one at a wrecker... Honda wants over $100 for it...

...before 5 is good... let's hope for SUN.
