Question So who knows their receivers??

I recently got a new Yamaha receiver and I'm wondering somthing....

I have a set of outdoor speakers I like to use, so I bought a simple speaker switch to let me turn them on and off. Some times I like to have the inside and outside speakers on if people are over. Problem is there was a inital setup card with the receiver that said be sure to correctly set the receiver to match the resistance of your speakers in big letters. So both sets of speakers are 8Ω. But when I have both sets on it's like having 4Ω.

It's a pain goin into the advanced menu to change the Ω from 8 to 4 and back on the receiver so what's going to happen if I just leave it at 8? and why?

.... wont you just get more juice to them one way?
Higher resistance, more power you need to run them. Like in car audio, monoblock amp, 1000w @ 2ohms or 600W @ 4ohms.
