caliper paint...
i was thinking of using the red caliper paint i have left over with a small brush....tape up the more important parts and make sure it wont get paint on it and use a small thin brush 2 put some layers of red paint over the needle....what u guys think???

a sharpie is just a brand for a permanent marker... office depot or something..
i could see the sharpie working, cause it would probably just tint it. i would not use caliper paint, cause its more of a paint for metal anyway with a high heat resistance. i can't see it setting nice.
i would use an acrylic paint or something meant for plastic surfaces. it will coat lightly and much smoother. even better, grab a little small jar of testers paint from a hobby store or canadian tire or something. they are only a few dollars but grab that stuff, you can get a nice crimson red colour or something with a deep tone and it would look real nice. yeah, thats the best man, use that ****. you need one of the finest brushes you can get though, worth the few extra bucks anyway and it will go on real nice. just buy a testers brush too, meant for their paint anyway.
and cynikal is right about not popping the needles off, performance improvements broke mine. lol. tape some paper gently behind the needle, it moves freely anyway.

i did this last year and used red sharpie and it came out OK. recently...i just removed the color using nail polish remover cuz it looked rice after a while. as opposed to sharpie, using paint is tricky as it adds to the weight on the needle....and since needle mechanism is so light and sensitive...it might throw off your reading (i read about this on HT once)
