!!!oem Power Window Installation!!!

this question is for the EXTREME car modder only. cuz chances are u wouldnt be comming across this kinda wiring unless u are doing something related to it that is OEM.

guys my car is a 2000 honda civic se and i did the power window conversion on it using the oem parts for everthing but custom wiring from everything from the door jam down to the fuse box cuz i wasnt able to get a hold of the oem power window/power doorlocks and power mirror harness. now i have alink to actually get a hold of this and i am wondering if all i needed was that harness from both sides (left and right) and then plug it into the back of the fuse box under the dash and then put the window relay in the box aswell??? or do i need some kind of wire that goes to the engine bay fuse box aswell? cuz in the ebay fusebox it does have 40a fuses that are there for windows and door locks etc... but i dont know how the system works there.

i am assuming all i need is the harnesses that goes inside the car (under the carpet up to the fusebox thats under the dash and relay) but i am worried it might end up being more then i think. cuz i am spending a lot of money if i were to get the harness (close to 600 dollars) thats dirt cheap considering honda wants 3 grand for it and they are sayin it comes wit the main harness which is bullshit cuz my entire dash is out and i was checkin thru the wires...

can bruno or 94eg6hb help me out or any other brainer in this matter.

i can rewire it up wit custom wires so it works agian but i am tryin to do everything oem since my entire interior is apart anyways with nothing inside.

Clarify please.

Think slower..

:D

imported_Team Rukus 23-Sep-2003 11:08 AM

lol

okay let me try to clarify.

basically in order to install oem power windows.
u need
the internals of the door (obviously)

then the harness thats inside each door leads up to the pillar (for the back ones) and then it stops and then from there u have to plug a new harness which leads to the front of the dash.

same witht he front doors except instead of the pillar it goes to the hole thats inbetween the fender and frame.

now on the right hand side of the car the back of the door goes to the pillar and plugs into a new harness which runs straight along the bottom of the floor under the carpet to the front door (passanger side) and it connects to the frotn door.

so i got one side finished.

now if i look between the middle of the car (once u remove the seats and carpet u can see a wire harness that is the same as the one that connected to both doors on the passanger side go to the other side which is the left side) then that harness plugs into the back door just like the other side and then goes to the front where it splits into two i believe and once goes to the door and one goes to the back of the fusebox where it plugs in.
now my question is if i get that harness and the relay is it all i need OR do i still need to get another harness that goes to the engine or sum ****?

you shouldn't need all that stuff.. .i helped wire power locks into my buddies 4th gen hatch... we got the motors from a 4th gen something or other... i can't entirely remember... might have bee na 5th gen actually ... then basically the only thing we didn't take from that donor car was the switches... which we pulled from a contour funily enough

anyways we didn't use any harnesses persay... we just got power from one of the wire showing 12V on accesory for the ignition... then ground is easy enough.... then the relay was under the drivers side dash... which was all wired properly...

i'm not 100% sure on how 6th gens wire in but it was very straight forward for his car....

imported_Team Rukus 25-Sep-2003 02:49 PM

yea thats how i did it on my car before.
but now i wanna go completely oem for that added profesional look.
eventhough no one will know but still i am picky
lol.

when i did it previoulsy i just tapped into the ignition wire and made it work just like u but now i need OEM.
lol

hey sorry to jack your thread Jay, but I've gotta question on the power windows...

my passenger side window rolls up MAD slow, anyone know why that might be? Any way to cure the problem?

once again, sorry to jack your thread Jay :p

spray some silicone spray on the tracks

imported_civic_fan 28-Sep-2003 07:41 PM

either thatt or you need a window regulator cause sometimes they get bent(with use) and that causes them to roll up slow

Team Ruckus,

I appreciate what you are trying to do... that's very very good...

If you have a real SE... well, SE comes with all that, so what's the problem, you should be wired up, no conversion necessary. However, since you are asking, I'll assume you somehow have an LX or something that have nothing but speaker wires in the door :) Yes, OEM is quite beautiful and expensive. My suggestion, since you work at a body shop and have connections, is to go to a crashed Civic, and strip it of every shred of wire that it has, and replace it all into your car. I'm having a similar dilemma wiring up heated/power EL mirrors on my car.... I need the god damned harnesses and switch.

Basically what I'm saying, because of the loom that factory has, it's impossible for me to know whether pw/pl is spliced into the UHJB (Underhood Junction Box)... best thing to do is to replace it all with junkyard stuff, or just wire it up as best as you can yourself. Remember, all the expense/trouble you go through, no one will ever pay you for it... I've made that mistake many times.

thanks bruno.
but remember se's dont come wit power windows and mirriors for the 99/00.

the 99/00 was a special edition make
which offered ac cd player and some features including keyless entry.

the lx was full basic which means no power and no ac etc...
the ex was the highest of its class.

i got the se because i got a great deal. wish i went for the ex-g. which wouldve gotten me the sunroof etc but it was 7 grand more then wat i got the se for thats y i got the se.

bbarbulo 30-Sep-2003 09:53 AM

i see... I thought the SE was an LX with p/w and keyless and a/c... guess not. :)

ya, I got an LX... always wanted to swap it, so I wanted to get something light, yet unique... ie. not a coupe. :) You know what I'm talking about LOL

So yeah, that leaves you with those two options... forget your OEM ways, and just get those wire zip-ties, with the pushclips at the end... so you zip-tie the loom, and then secure the bundle to the chassis using that clip... or just strip a junkyard car of it's harness...

I'm most likely just going to get the harness for my power mirrors from the dealer since it shouldn't cost that much money... but if I was redoing the whole car, I'd buy a junker and part it out.

so tobr truly oem, dont u need the ex door panels? the inside

3000.00 freaking dollars.
thats how much it is if u want that harness.
y? cuz its part of the main harness (which is not but they CLAIM it to be)

u need everything

doorpanels
controls
acuators
everything.

u cant use ur stock manual doorpanel cuz its made differently and doesnt have space for the controls etc... and u will have a whole where the rollup used to be (eventhough thats the smallest of the problems to fix)
