odometer mileage isnt working on new cluster

i had saw a listing on ebay for a 1.6 cluster with 176k on it so i decided to buy it because my cluster had 307k on it and also i had replace my motor since i bought it, so everything with basically plug and play but i had one clip with wires left over, mind my old cluster was auto, what im thinking is, on my old cluster that wire connected around where the auto controls were on the cluster (middle of gas and temp) and a wire on that clip controlled the odometer, correct me if im wrong

you would be wrong..

Auto/standard cluster it doesn't matter. Your problem is with the gauge it self. Check to make sure all the screw that hold each gauge is there. I have once bought a cluster that wasn't working just to find out that it only needed a few screws in he back. The screws don't just hold the gauge they also send the - and +. If that doesn't work then its effed... sorry.

its also illegal to use that cluster....

even tho ur motor has less k's your body and everything else have 300+ on it, so if your ever planning on selling it, you could be could with odo fraud, if ur not, then dont worry about it....

Wait did you just buy a new cluster for the lower reading? You know the ministry has all the info and if you lie to them and get caught its 5000$ fine... Also, when you sell the car to somebody you'll appear very shady when the used car package says the car has more Km than the ministry.

If its just for your benefit. Then make sure you keep track of the actual reading so come sticker time you have a accurate number.

**** guys i didnt know, i just wanted to match the kms with my swapped engine, thats why i bought the cluster cause it had near what the kms had on the motor, so anyways im going back to my old cluster because the mileage trip still isnt working on the cluster

lol ive seen hondas for sale where it says 0000000 on the cluster, aslong as you mention you rolled it back when the engine was rebuilt. not sure legally what you can do tho aha

There is a proper way to do it through the MTO.
