new sound setup help
hey guys
so im saving up for a full alpine setup except for the amp which from my friends' experiences have been under par
ATM im getting 2 type r's question is what amp would be good to power these guys (i dont need brands or model numbers just watts, ohms, and best circuit setups for the 2 subs)
second question is this
im going to abuse these subs (not even going to lie ahah) but the thing is when i crank the bass on my subs now everything gets distorted and what i wanted to do is cut the bass signal going to each speaker and have ALL the bass coming from my sub so i get a clear sound with a back massage

then id say go for a 4ohm mono block 600 rms(puts out 1000watts)its a enough power an it wont over kill them. You could go with a higher power amp just make sure all ur setting on ur amp are turned down, then u shouldn't blow them. I was powering almost 5000watts to my 2 10' jl's and they handled it fine. for better bass sound too check to make sure ur box is built to specs for ur subs. i find ported boxes are the best!

You want more power in your amp, rather than too little. Your Subs won't draw more power than they need. So try and match Subs with Amp.
Key points to look at:
1. You said your type-r's are 4ohm, but are they dual voice coil. If they are, then your setup is actually 2ohm stable.
2. RMS means, Root Means Square. Most people don't know that, but they understand you want RMS and peak means nothing.
3. Make sure your MONO BLOCK (or Class D) AMP will handle 4 ohm @ #RMS for both speakers! If you have an amp that's 4ohm @ 600rms, might not cut it for both speakers. I found that out with my voodoo's. 1200RMS @ 1 ohm, had 2 12" 1200rms @ 1, it was louder using only one sub.(128.7dB)
4. Doesn't Alpine make an amp to match their subs? Usually your best bet. They make the amps designed off the subs, and vise versa.
5. Distortion is caused by interferance(sp?) usually cause by crossed wires or bad grounding, or both! If you want to just bump your bass so you **** off the cops and your neighbors; On your deck put your sublevel/sub control way up. It's not the same as your bass/treble/mid, it should be an alpine feature. Your AMP (Class D) will have a 'level' aswell you can crank. If you still have distortion you may need an equalizer, better speakers, better deck, better wires, or all round better system... that's what you're paying for! Don't expect Pyle Speakers from wally mart to out perform my Eclipse 4 way speakers (sold to tkjode).
Personally, I'd recommend the amp made for the Type-R's. Buy one for each sub.
If these are your subs... Link Than you need to do more research before you buy. The ones in the link are 4+4ohm, which makes them 2ohm. You need a 2 ohm Amp (Still class D/Mono Amp), not a 4 ohm. 2 ohm are a lot cheaper, and easier to find.
