Keeping the Cruise

Keeping the Cruise
I have an el cheapo steering wheel from CT, but I really like it, because it reminds me of the steering wheels on old school arcade games such as Super Sprint and Pole Position.
The problem though, is that my steering wheel has the cruise controls attached to it. It kind of looks like it could be detached, and kept separately, or am I wrong?
I need to keep the cruise, so is it possible to swap the steering wheels while keeping the cruise intact?
I'm also going to lose the airbag - is this a big safety concern? I wouldn't bother with a JDM SRS wheel though, 'cuz it doesn't impress me much. I actually like the Super Sprint wheel that much!

I'm pretty sure that it would be illegal for you to change the steering wheel for the one you specified.
If the car comes with SRS -airbag, then the only steering wheel that can be swapped in as a replacement is one with Airbag as well.
I'm not sure how cops enforce this, though. Do they have a database of cars that states which one should have airbag/not?
I doubt it...
