How do I make my radio louder?
With out getting a new deck? I drive a 2000 SI. when my iPod is plugged in its so low. even the radio doens't go that loud. I love the look of it stock so i don't really want to get a new deck. Is this something im going to have to live with?

there might be something blown in the built in amp of the deck.. your best guesses are to try to plug in another stock deck to test. or as northern says grab a stand alone 4 channel with new speakers. but don't go buying new speakers without an amp because it won't make that big of a difference with a stock deck albeit a deck thats not outputting optimally (since stock speakers run on lower wattage or stock decks, getting new speakers which generally have stronger magnets, the stock deck won't run them well enough to give you good sound, general thought)

Aftermarket ftw! the longest I have had an Stock Deck in was 4 days after I bought the car usually I have an Aftermarket Deck in the car within the 24 hours I have had the car... I hate Stock Decks... But I am an Audio Junky I cant stand anything stock for ICE....

you'd be suprised .. some stock decks are quite adequate especially if it's an upgraded type with integrated amplification ie. bose, alpine, h/k etc. they may not look like much work has been done but it's quite an upgrade from bone stock since the speakers and output are specifically designed for each car. usually with an aftermarket deck installed you wouldn't notice much of a volume difference as the stock speakers can only handle so much wattage, so unless speakers are upgraded as well as ideally an external amp, i usually advise against it .. save some money until you can get a full upgrade
that is unless you require aftermarket deck features such as aux inputs or outputs to amps/subs, sometimes the stock deck sounds fine (i'll give it that some aftermarket decks have much better electrical noise control) .. not to mention it looks better integrated into your dash and less notable for thefts

also realize that the headphone jack is just that, for headphones. it has been designed to limit some of the sound frequencies to not destroy headphones. there is also a setting when you connect to itunes to turn the max volume down. using an aftermarket deck with an input for you ipod, the flat connector on the bottom gives you full spectrum audio and most will charge as well.
