Hood pin

Anyone know where I can buy the hood pin switch for car alarms (other than car stereo shops, they charge way too much)?

A friend of mine needs one cuz his is FUBAR

Looks like this

Thanx

hood pin switches suck because they corrode and have to be adjusted over and over again so that they still work properly. a Mercury switch is cheap and u dont have to worry about corrosion ruining the connections etc.

yes but you a hood pin will go off as soon as the hood is opened slightly, with a mercury switch you could put your hand under and rip it out if it was placed up front, so it has its disadvantages as well

yeah thats why you put it near the hinge and its a very minimal difference in how much the hood has to be lifted for them to go off. Id rather have something i know will work then have something that could have corroded and not work if a thief pops my hood.

IF someone knows you have a mercury switch and exactly where to look for it then chances are a hood pin isnt gonna make it any better.

Well for approx. $5 more u can get a mercury switch. Also he said his friends is "FUBAR" which could be because its corroded or maybe it just broke. In any case you can get them for a good price from any of our affiliates, if like $10-15 is too much then i guess you can shop around?

you flash the hoodpin by holding it down for two seconds, release, then push it down and let go right away.
