Headlight On Warning Buzzer

Hi guys,

I have read the article on the DIY headlight-on buzzer and am wondering if anyone has done it yet for a 5th gen.

I was tinkering today with it and realized the circuits mentioned in the article don't seem to match between the 4th and 5th gen.
I couldn't actually find the right circuits because the blocking plate that covers my fuse panel is missing so none of the fuses are labelled.

Any one done it and can tell me which fuses are the ones need?

Thanks

...or maybe even an online listing of the fuses, circuits and numbering of that fuses box?

Ah..nevermind...got it figured out.

No more dead battery for me :)

I'm interested in knowing too

hey happyb16 can you tell me how to do that ? thanx

HAPPY 13-Jan-2003 09:09 AM

Yeah - give a me a day or two. I'll try to take some pics and get the specifics for the 5th gen'ers.

ps - the buzzer I got from Radio Shack is crap (atleast the one I got is) The thing must have a bad connection internally cause it is all wired up right but only works if you flick it with your finger...bah.

If I forget about this thread, someone remind me.

I want to know how to do this too!!!!

I've learned from experience to always make sure my headlights are off.

It's feature that every car should have.

My dad wired his 95 with one... and I'm thinking I should put one on mine too. I keep forgetting to turn off the headlamps when I use them during the day.

I'll try to get the information from him.

And to think that we already have this as a "how to" in our own forums............."search" is usefull. You should learn how to use it sometime. LOL :nods:

Info should also work for the 5th and 6th gens as well. (hell I would assume most of the gens)

http://www.torontocivics.com/article...er/buzzer.html

You can also get the buzzer at Crappy Tire in the "help" parts section......if it's not there, check the auto electrical section (where all the fuses are).

imported_Slvr-Bullet 15-Jan-2003 05:54 AM

That's interesting. How come I have one in my car already?? I don't think the previous owner added it. Doesn't it come from the factory with a warning buzzer?

Wow - sure it would help to search...BUT IT WOULD ALSO HELP TO READ THE THREAD YOU ARE TRYING TO FLAME.

The purpose of this thread was to get the info for the 5th gen guys because I TRIED the article and the circuits are different...

...but I'm sure you knew that right??

T-Shirt Ninja 15-Jan-2003 12:01 PM

I did it using that article you speak of (the 4th gen one) its not the exact same, but by following the names of the fuses you can match em up, really easy to do, took all of 5 mins. Only one downside, is when I flip off my alarm, my headlights turn on and so does the buzzer, but I can handle that.

imported_silverSI 15-Jan-2003 07:34 PM

what kinda noise doe sthe buzzer make? its it a loud annoying buzzing noise or can you get one that is like the usual ones that are in cars kinda like a dinging noise?

T-Shirt Ninja 15-Jan-2003 09:05 PM

Kinda hard to explain, if your at the meet friday you'll hear it in my car lol. It's not unbearable and its not a dinging sound tho (which I wish it was)

HAPPY 15-Jan-2003 10:02 PM

...but it's a much better sound than that disturbing silence when you try to turn your car over and nothing happens.

imported_loudsubz 15-Jan-2003 10:08 PM

What about a blinking LED? would that work instead of a buzzer? Using the same principle of the buzzer?

HAPPY 15-Jan-2003 10:19 PM

I suppose it would, but I'd have to install it in the middle of my forehead if I wanted it to get my attention.

lol

Im pretty **** about checking to make sure things are off before I leave the car, its easy at night, but during the day I must turn the light switch off 2 times before I leave the car to make sure its off, I get this habbit from my mom.

Goes with everything I do.

Leave the house...
I double check everythings off, and even them Im still kinda weary...

imported_silverSI 16-Jan-2003 08:02 AM

i went to radio shack and they had something that was called a "chime" im not sure what it sounds like. has anyone ever heard this chime before?
