Question Fuel Pump Switch

I decided to open a new thread rather continue an older one that was on this topic because this is more specific...

Anyways I'm gunna hide a convient kill switch to my fuel pump like suggested in an older thread.

Below is 2 pictures of what I'm going to be working with. Theres a few more wires here then I anticipated.

This shot is just a wide shot and would be facing the trunk, just so you see exactly what I'm working with

And this one obvisouly a close up of all the wiring

Now I figured there would be + and - for the pump, and then wiring for fuel gauge...

Now i think 1 & 2 are + and - for the pump, and probably black being - , and I want the switch to be on the positive, im not sure what 3 - 10 do tho...

SO Tomorrow I plan on cutting #1 and routing it to a switch with 12 gauge and then back, probably 2 ft of wire each way or less.

Is that correct?

i know i know, but this would be the first time in 4 years with this car that I ever would of needed one, so rather then go out and buy one since ppl here have suggested doing this project i figured they would know what wire I need to cut too.

all im lookin for is somone to say I'm right if i am cause I'm pretty sure its #1. Three hours from this post im just gunna cut it anyways.. worst that could happen is it's wrong and ill soldier it back together and cover it with shrink tube.. then ill feel like an *** and probably expand my research beyond this site

the switch should be wired to wire 1 in your diagram there...

typical to place it right by the fuel pump....

if I was a theif and I thought there was a fuel issue thats first place I'd go ....
