Fried alarm and Reprogramming alarm FOB
I think I fried my alarm It was working fine until I connected it to a keyless entry system and then shorted two of the 5 locking wires (trying to make a lock/unlock button, but got it stuck trying to unlock for 5 seconds... buzzzz then everything went dead). I figure this sent voltage back up through the lock computer inputs to the alarm's outputs... Now my alarm does nothing. I checked all the fuses.
Still, I wouldn't have expected simply leaving it in "unlock" for 5 seconds to cause so much damage.
Regardless, my g/f has the exact same unit, Arctic Remote starter/alarm, and when I plug in her unit to the harness in my car, it works fine.
So, the problem lies within the alarm circuitboard.
Regardless, is there any way to reprogram my alarm/remote starter key-fob to work on my gfriends unit (since its the EXACT same unit)? I would have thought that this would just work so long as the key fob is the first button ever pressed when the alarm is powered up... I tried that and still only her key fobs work on her alarm, and not mine too.
So, is there a way to reprogram my keyfobs for her car...
Anyone good at circuit board repairs? I opened my box and couldnt see anything burn/discolored inside.
