Driver's Window Comes Off Rails

Hi.

I've had this issue for years but very infrequently. It hasn't been until the last few months that it has been happening more often, usually when the window is wet.

When I lower my driver's window, it gets to a point about halfway down that it begins to slow like it's pulling against some resistance. This resistance increases when the window is wet. It almost looks like the window flexes or bends a little and then it "pops" and the pressure releases and the window continues all the way down.

Unfortunately, this is usually when I realize that the window has come off the rails at the front of the door. When I try to bring the window back up, the front gets caught between the side mirror and the rubber attached to the side mirror. To fix this I need to pull off the door panel, take out the speaker, unscrew the bolt holding the rail and then try to bend the window back into the rail. Once I screw the bolt back up it usually fixes the problem, but recently it's been happening more often.

I've tried to make the bolt tighter by adding a larger bolt and nut to tighten behind the rail bracket. I've also used graphite lube in the past on the rubber the window passes between. I haven't done this in a while and will see if this helps.

Has anyone else had this problem or knows how I can stop this from happening?

Thanks

i had this problem as well, i replaced the front rail where the window pops out from but it still didnt help, i went to honda and they said that its most likely the rubber seal around the window which costs 100 bones. i havent replaced mine yet but it hasnt done anything wrong for a while, im guessing u have an ek?

Yup. '96 Si.

I've gotten advice from others on another forum. It ranges from spray the inside of the track with silicone or white grease spray to adjust the window (if loose compared with the passenger's side) and cable and spray the cable.

I'll be trying all of the above.

I had the same issue with my 98 SI, I really didnt pay to much attention to it as I could use my hand and force it up. Eventually the rubber molding around my window got cut in two and would come out of the door when I put the window up. A big pain when it rained. I replaced the rubber runner around the window and the problem has been solved.

currently have the window popping off the track all the time
the supposed remedy is a window "regulator"

Some times replacing the rubber will work, same with adjusting the tracks in the door, but not normally. A lot of the times you need to replace the window regulator because 1 side is going up or down fast then the other side because the cable the moves it has stretched over time.
