DIY Amber Interior Bulbs...
Q: How can I make my bulbs amber without buying this overpriced JDM crap?
A: Buy some Tamiya acrylic 'Clear Orange" model paint. Acrylic paint is really cool because it is water soluble. So you don't really like to deal with thinners and brushes and all that junk. If you screw up for some reason, you can just wipe it with a damp cloth. The brush can be cleaned under the sink. Dip or brush on 3-5 coats on the bulbs. Let them dry and then test them. You must put a lot of coats because the bulbs shine pretty bright and will look more like orange than amber if you put a light coat on. You can do this for the stock radio too.
