Deck/Subs/Amp with new battery

I had a stock OEM battery from when I purchased the car brand new and I used to pump my sound system no problem all the time. Well figuring its been almost 8 years with the same battery and I notice it's getting weak on cold starts so I bought a motomaster battery just to use for a few years till I sell the car. Now my sound system cuts out , like the deck turns off and on by itself when I turn up the volume loud. It never used to do this with my old battery.

have you changed anything other than the battery? Could be a loose ground wire or a short in your power wires.

could be your deck's ground wire loosing contact....or the plug at the back that is pushing in scew, and doesnt make contact properly. had that problem with my panasonic

Did the old battery ever go completely dead on you and force you to jump or roll start the car? If so then not having a fully charged battery may have forced you alternator to compensate for it and die.

Never had to jump or bump start it , just a few times on cold mornings it was hard to crank over. I went over to my work place and did a battery test on the old battery , under load it dropped to 9.8v.

I would have to say it is a fluke. Same thing used to happen to my deck turned out the differences in temperature caused the deck's circuit board to crack. when the bass hit at loud volumes it would short out and turn off. I would have to take the faceplate off then put it back on. The same thing would happen on large bumps too. I am not saying this is what is wrong but could be a possibility of what is wrong with your deck. What kind of deck is it?

It's an Alpine 9815 deck. I have no idea what I should do , all the connections on the battery seem to be good. Soo I'm gonna take the new battery and do a test on it and see from there.

have you tested the power at the battery with the car running and you system on? im pretty sure if your deck gets less than like 11V it will shut off.

Hmm i'll try that tomorrow when I'm in work. If it drops below 11v does that mean the alternator might be sucking too much juice also?

the alternator is what keeps your car charged while your driving. if it drops below 11 then either youe alt is taking a **** or theres other problems.

Thats an excellent deck first of all, I my sell run a 9813 that decks brother. Anyway it sounds like you probably got a defective battery which is probably causing your deck to turn on and off. I would still do a full electrical load test on the car though to be safe. Hell take the battery to crappy tire, they will test it for free!
