Dashboard lights.

So a while ago I was driving my car (2000 SI coupe) and the dashboard lights just went out. ( the lights that light up my speedometer, tach, gas etc...) every once in a while the lights will come on again. I checked the fuses its not a burnt out fuse is there anything i could do?

i dont know about civics. but my moms van just had this problem all her dash lights went out. it ended up being the wiring. all the wiring in her dashboard are conneted so when one went out they all did GM FTW!

It may be a loose ground ..... You can try manually moving the wires behind the dashdoard (shaking them) and see if the lights come on ... If it does then there is a break in the circuit somewhere ... It could be a loose ground or the power wires.

Regardless you may have to remove the dashboard to inspect the wires behind . The 2000 ek dashboard its pretty easy to remove .

It cant be a fuse , because you said the lights come back on sometimes. If it was a burned out fuse the lights will stay off permantly

good luck

whenever the lights go out, smack the dimmer switch with your hand. works on EGs, dont see why it wouldnt work on EKs.

If lights go on after hitting it few times, then its the switch thats causing the problem.

I don't know as much about EK gen's having this problem but EG's had an issue similar to this problem cause by the dimmer switch.
