KDawgONE 07-Apr-2003 07:41 PM

Ive been quoted $1200 for the seats and $1500 for the seats and new carpet...i just want the seats done for now...any other ideas for places/prices?

I could, but, I want proffessional looking. Ive seen many people do it themselves and it just looks like vynal seat covers. I dont want second-rate in a show car...

I was going to do vinyl
but it has so many downsides so I am going to redo them in a fabric.....soemthing soft for the ladies:). Do it yourself man, it will be so much cheaper and if you take your time it will work out fine.

macdriver 08-Apr-2003 04:17 PM

scarlemthug- are u goning to redo the seats yourself or by a shop?

scarlemthug 08-Apr-2003 04:52 PM

I am planning on redoing them myself. I am low on funds and paying someone 1000 to redo my seats isnt something I would do. There is an FAQ on www.teamgroundzero.com if you wanna check that out.

Ne ideas on fabrics to use guys?

KDawgONE 08-Apr-2003 06:33 PM

Scarlem,
I aggree with you...sort of! If I were to do my seats in fabric, it would certainly be a chore my mother in law and myself would tackle. But, seeing as I want to do my seats in white, using a material (such as tweed) doesnt make a lot of sense as it cannot be cleaned easily. Knowing the difficulty of working with vynal (having just wrapped my parcel bench myself), I think ill leave it to the pros.
BTW, Post pics when you get your seats done, id love to see them!

No worries,
~Dawg

YEah for white I would go with vinyl, eventhough white is so tough to keep clean and WHITE. I will for sure post pics when I do them. Right now im focusing on audio **** and painting different pieces of my interior. When it warms up out come the seats for cleaning and redoing and I will dye my dash.

Double post...opps.

I don't know where you are going to get those prices, but most places have quoted me $800-$1200 for front seats, back seats, door inserts, and shift boot.

As for a white interior.......be prepared to WORK to keep it clean. :nods: Don't expect to use the car as a dialy driver, becuase you will NEVER keep it clean.

(pic of a TCC member's car.....I think he has special shoes that he put's on, just to keep his regular shoes out of the car)

Yeah, it looks really nice, but the part time job he has other than his regular job, is trying to keep the interior clean. :p

Alan, do you think getting front seats, rear seat and door panels in a racing seat fabric would be similar in price? I HATE vinyl and leather for car seats.

Gallagher 09-Apr-2003 10:15 PM

ya i guess it would be a chore to keep white vinyl and dash actually white !

Never thought of that. Now I know :D

I'm doing my full interior black...

imported_Joker 09-Apr-2003 11:27 PM

get leather seats

I would say that it would be pretty close toi the same price.

A yard of vinyl is around $6 - $8 (average).....cost for good OEM style material, is around the same price....what you are paying for is the labour. It's about the same for both materials....but i would say the fabric would be easier to work with, therefore would cost a little less.
