my tach in my 88 crx si tends to bounce when I'm reving, anybody know why? is it some lose wire or is it the gauge? what do i need to do to fix it? Thanks all

usually when you rev your engine, the tach goes up and then down

yes, if it's good, it gives me the reading too..but I could be reving at 2000rpm and the needle would be bouncing at 8000rpm...not good at all eh?

I second the check grounds ... I'd also say check tach wire continuity as well

Had the exact same prob and this solved it

http://www.crx.org/southcal/tech/igniter/tach.htm

Obviously it just started.......so go with the recommended solutions and I have a rotor and distributor cap for the 88-91 civic crx.....brand new....PM me if you want to buy them as I now have a ZC motor so I don't need it.

Thanks guys. I am not sure if mine is the same problem as yours. put it this way, while i idle, my tach is boucing at 7-8000rpm already.

<br> so the problem isn't the same as yours where yours would only bounce when you gas to 3-4000rpm. mine just bounces with or without gas. could it be a sensor or anything?

Swap out the cluster..

If it doesn't go away try the dizzy next.

Original motor?
