Alarm or Immobilizer?

Hi,
Just want some opinions on which is better on my car. Immobilizer or alarm? I want an alarm that can secure my rims too..

Thanks.

how about both an immobilizer and an alarm?? I got both. I didn't know you can put in after market immobilizer's. Can you? Well I don't think you can at least.

yes you can put in both.

aftermarket immobilizers aren't so popular these days because most new cars already ship with factory immobilizers, i.e. a chip in the key (that's why newer keys look fat).

apparently immobilizers are very very well worth it. if you do a bit of research, you'll find that some insurance companies even give you premiums discounts if you have one.

good sites to research:

www.vicc.com
www.ibc.ca

they'll mention the recognized brands of immobilizers on those sites. i really don't wanna mention much more than that - god forbid anyone accuse me of advertising...

alarms are also very good because they handle the noise-making side of things, as well as motion sensors, tilt sensors, and creature comforts like keyless entry, remote starter, trunk open, etc...

definitely both is the best combo to have. in addition, you'd want some sort of club device, as well as wheel locks for rims.

hope this helps.
