2-channel amp question...
 

I've been lookin around, and on some websites, specifically www.crutchfield.com, and while reading up on 2-channel amps i notice specs for:

Power output per channel @ 4 ohms
Power output per channel @ 2 ohms
and
Power output bridged @ 4 ohms

im a newb, and just figured out that since most subs are 4ohms (if not all?) and connected in parallel (i guess this is how u hook up and amp to 2 subs?) the equivalent impedance is 2 ohms.

so my question is, this 2-channel amp, can it have a bridged output at 2ohms as well, cuz it doesnt have a spec on that suite for it. Or, is it assumed to be double whatever the brigded value is at 4ohms?

bottom line:

if the amp doens't list specs for 2 ohm MONO configuratio and only says 4 ohms bridged, most likely it will not play lower than 4 ohms.

What you can do though is run the amp at 4 ohm stereo, and just feed a mono or summed input into the rca inputs on the amp so oth channels are playing the same thing, because bass is non directional so you dont need to have stereo bass :D

for a sub amp, class D is the best

it allows you to play with lower impedances usually, and has built in crossovers for low pass etc, there geared towards subs.
