04 Civic Stereo Installation - Help, Please

I have an 04 Civic Sedan and want to put an aftermarket amp/deck/sub into it, the stock speakers sound good, so for now I won't change them. I was wondering if anyone in the Toronto area has done their own and would be willing to help install mine for a few bucks. Please PM me.

Also I don't have the code for my stock stereo, is that needed at all? or only if I want to reinstall that?

Thanks

I am not sure if you need the code, for mine i got it out without code. Someone though told me if you do that your car wont unlock with factory alarm. So i'm not positive since i actually changed mi alarm ahead of time. Most the stuff your asking is quite simple. You could do it if you have the right tools and accessories for installation. Deck should be simple. use the L clips that came with your aftermarket deck to take out the factory deck. Put your amp and subs in preferred place (trunk). Preferabbly screw down the amp to sub box or amp to the back seat. if your placing amp on back of seat, probably best to put a piece of thin wood sheet. get your amp wiring kit, place it down before cutting out the sizes. Wire up the rca cables from your deck to your amp. make sure you put in right inputs so that you can control your subs on and off from the deck. Wire up the preferably 2 gauge or 4 gauge (or if all can 0 gauge) wires. Is not hard, sometimes is better to read a few sites online. try it out. If you can't do it my friend. maybe i will help you out if your in scarborough area or near the university in oshawa.

deck install is easy ... once u get factory out its smooth sailing and running ur wiring kit thru the firewall its all good from there. Those are the two hardest things, they arent really hard more time consuming really

Hey all, thanks for the replies and suggestions. Much appreciated. I unfortunately haven't have time to do anything yet, but hopefully soon as I'm missing my music.

Why waste your money on getting someone to install the stereo when you can do it yourself. I did it on my wife's '04 and I was done in 1 1/2 hours. It was the easiest radio replacement I have done in my life.

I dont know why you guys take the whole center console apart when you dont have to. All you have to do it pull on the panel below the radio that houses the cigarette lighter and it will come out, you may need a panel popper to do it. Then you can access those 2 bolts below the radio.

Not on the 04. Maybe the 01-02. Not too sure about the 03. You have to take the trim around the shift ****, whether its auto or manual. Trust me, I've installed 6 different decks in my car, you have to take off the trim around the shift ****. Also the part that holds the cig lighter in on the 04's is actually screwed down with 2 screws, so you can't just yank it off.

yes 01-02 you can pop the panel out, 03-05 they merged that panel with the centre console.

When I reinstalled everything I just left the two screws out from the bottom of the radio chassis. why? So I don't have to rip apart the center console.

Thieves don't have to take out the two 8mm bolts either.

So I finally got my system installed at the end of January.......and on the last day of February it was stolen! So much for that, I am not sure if I'm gonna even bother putting one back in, right now I'm using the stock deck, but sucks after all that it's gone after a month.

*careful if you park @ kennedy station.
