right now im running 4-1 header 2 and a quarter inch piping , magnaflow high flow cat , no resonater with a vibrant muffler ( 2 inch tip ) .. its very loud . If i switch to a type-r cat back exhaust will i loose power to make it not so loud.

I doubt you will loose noticable power. What you can do is go to a chambered muffler system like the Apexi WS2 instead of the staight through muffler. its 2.5 inch and its very quiet unless you punch it good.

^ well 3" will be loud on average regardless.

if sound is your main concern, a resonator will definitely help. the stock itr setup will have it ofcourse and as james said...there shouldnt be any noticeable loss of power

I have no resonator on mine and it's quiet, a little rasppy when its cold.

but then again, I'm only a D16.. lol
