Vibrant 4-2-1 Jspec VS Hytech Rep

Recently I have replaced my hytech rep. with a Vibrant 4-2-1 Jspec since I heard good reviews from it and I realized the Hytech sucks in midranga.

for Hytech Header, Huge drop in midrange but crazy power in Top End area. For Vibrant Jspec, fixed midrange power that the hytech had but no TOP end at all. I don't know if its just me or what, best thing is to visit the dyno again.

is Vibrant Jspec only good with B16 motor?? how about built B18 motor? how does it react? Anyone has/had experience with the Jspec header? please input.

The Hytech Replica header sits too low to the ground, plus it's not made as well as the Vibrant header.

I have a b16a2 and recently installed and ported a jdm itr 4-1 header with 2.5" collector and also installed 2.5" high flow cat and custom made the rest of my exhaust all 2.5"

Noticed a significant gain everywhere above 3500rpm, especially up top on the vtec cams.

But I cannot speak for the hytech or vibrant header.

i've made over 200whp on 1.8L's a bunch of times now with the vibrant j-spec 4-2-1. Its my header of choice.

with my n/a b16 power went up across the board switching from the DC 4-1 to the vibrant j-spec 4-2-1.

You might have increased the midrange to a point that the powerband is more linear/smooth that it doesn't feel as fast up top because of how weak it was in the midrange before so it made the top end feel really strong.

Or you could've lost top end power, only the dyno will tell. ;P

I'll visit the dyno very soon just to see the comparsion between the hytech midrange crap vs vibrant the magic, with velocity stack 3" SRI of cause.

Anyways. Zeeman your statement of linear/smooth does make sense. I guess Dyno tells everything, will drop by some day just to do a base dyno test.

See you and Charles soon

Zeeman, about your 4-1 header. From what I've heard, it's a bad idea to use a 4-1 header on a stock N/A motor(possibly all n/a). That's the reason Honda/Acura use only 4-2-1 headers. Sorry I can't elaberate(sp?) on the reasoning behind, but I believe it was back pressure, and a 4-1 not having any.

Isn't the JDM ITR header a 4-1?

JDM 4-1

News to me, but you very well could be right. I'm almost positive my ITR does NOT have a 4-1 header. I'll look at report tomorrow... weather permitting.

Well, Like I stated before, I've put a jdm itr 4-1 header with 2.5" collector and full 2.5" exhaust on my b16 and power has gone up across the board, especially on the big cam lobes. But I re-welded and ported mine which I've heard is supposed to make a big difference with the jdm itr 4-1 header. I can definitly understand why they say this if you've seen the inner factory welds that intrude into the ports of the header. So you can't get the true potential of the jdm itr 4-1 header with 2.5" collector, unless it has been ported.

Also I think the usdm itr header is 2-3/8" collector, not 2-1/2". Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
