Jdm d15b intake mani on y7

I picked up the mentioned intake mani and wanna do a straight swap on the wimpy y7. I plan on using the y7 tb and fuel rail and injectors to avoid swapping ecu. My questions are are the vacuum lines and coolant lines just a direct plug in play affair?? Ive been lookin for diagrams on this swap but can't find anything anywhere. I'm also throwing a y8 exhaust setup on the ek hatchas well. Ifanyone can direct me to a link that has diagrams for this swap it would be greatly appreciated. I plan on doin this job over this weekend. Thanks in advance for any help. Oh and how can I tell if it is actually a Jdm piece??

From what i recall, the throttle cable doesnt work, moreover the iacv is different and has a different plug. Otherwise all coolant lines etc are the same. The fuel line from filter to rail is slightly shorter than it should be but it reaches.

Just fyi, this swap will give you very very minimal gains, its almost not even worth doing the swap for time and money wasted. Why not pick up a d16y8 or a d15b/d16z6 and swap that in? Since you should be replacing the intake manifold gasket/throttle body gasket etc, you are wasting money. Add all that together and you got almost half the price of a vtec sohc you can buy. Hell i've seen z6 engines with transmissions go for $200-$250, and in the end you will feel a difference.

I gotta do a head gasket on it anyway and I got the y8 exhaust setup for nothin and paid $20 for the intake. So since I'm coin the heAd gasket anyway figured may as well swap these parts. The complete upper gasket set is only $120. So all together I'm spending $140 cheaper then a motor swap. Plus these additions are much easier to do then a complete swap. I'm on the hunt for a y8 head to do a mini me but until then this is gnna do for now. I'm a n00b in the Honda world. I'm more familiar with ford, chev, Mazda.

I'd also suggest not bothering with swaping the exhaust with another stock setup. You won't get any gains from that.

Isn't the stock y7 setup the worst power robbing setup there is?? Sure it's good for emissions but it seems rather power robbing choking out the car. Is the intake mani a good addition? I'm not looking for a 300 hp hatch right now just a little better throttle response

^I know the Y7 intake manifold is not optimal, but the exhaust I wasn't aware it was any different than anyother stock d-series exhaust/manifold. Most guys slap on a cheap header for a bit more response and top-end.

The y7 exhaust manifold is the only one with the cat built in the header. I really does rob power. Op either way just make sure that with whatever setup you run you have both o2 sensors.

Projectshocker 24-Nov-2010 11:01 AM

Ya I figured it did. I picked up an o2 sensor for an accord so the secondary o2 would reach the plug. What about the d15b intake? That's my major concern right now. I'm gonna use my y7 tb and such is there anything I gotta cap off and or not use on the new mani

In that case, yeah, if you have the parts on hand, might as well change it.

So I just found out that intake mani is junk! Comes off the jdm vtec-e which in itself is crap for power but awesome for fuel economy. Now I'm on the hunt for another dam intake mani. Anyone here from the Oshawa are with a cheap y8 mani or a mani off an eg?? Let me know asap please and thank you

not gonna feel **** changing an intake mani on a stock d16y7 waste of time

Projectshocker 25-Nov-2010 08:44 PM

I'm gonna be doin a mini me swap also
