heat wraping exhaust headers
any good advice on heat wrapping headers for a 05 si with a d17. its a 4 to 1 header and looks pretty decent stock. just wanna absorb some heat from the exhaust and try and clean up the look a bit.

is your engine stock? i think it's pretty pointless heat wrapping headers. your car shouldn't have any overheating problems and i think it would do the opposite of cleaning up your engine bay. heat wrap is usually used more on turbo applications because the turbo is shoving more air into the engine hence making **** hotter. i wouldn't bother if i were you

You won't notice any performance gain, but it will keep under hood temps cooler. Much better than the cheesy oem heat shield.
If you do do it: Take the header off the car. Soak the heat wrap in water before applying (this helps it go on tighter and conform to the shape of the pipes. It also makes it easier to work with). Go to a hardware store and grap some STAINLESS hose clamps to hold the wrap in place. You don't need the expensive little wire clips they try to sell you with the wrap.
Good luck, and take pics if you do it.
I did this to mine for the sole purpose of cutting down underhood temps, and it does to that quite well.

^It's MUCH easier to remove it from the vehicle. When the pipes get close (side by side) and you can't fit the wrap in between, just wrap all 4. On mine I only went down to just above the lower bend. Down there, there is lots of air flow and those pipes won't really effect the underhood temps as much as the upper section of the pipes.
