which header is better?

its for a b16. vibrant j spec or hytech style 4-2-1 tri-y. is there any better options for about $350. also if my exhaust isnt 2.5 inches what will i need to make it fit my car?

Both headers are good provided they both have 2.5" collectors.

You will need a highflow cat with 2.5" in and out, plus the rest of your exhaust needs to be 2.5" all the way. No point in installing a header like that unless you do the whole exhaust system.

the quality of the vibrant far exceeds the quality of ANY of the replica headers.

I've seen a couple of the hytech replicas mangled and let me tell you, the quality just isn't there. They should be selling for $200, not $350-400.

I've made over 200whp with the vibrant 4-2-1 j-spec on a 1.8L.

You can do it, but it's pointless.

Why add a header like that but still leave the rest of the exhaust restrictive?

Well, putting a good header on with stock exhaust will not give you any gains.

New exhaust will take years to wear out.

Save your money and leave it stock until it breaks/rusts. Or if you want to see decent gains, replace the whole system with 2.5" all that way.

But hey, it's your car.

yes. you should even be able to re-use your sensors from the D you took out. not a big deal.

Information is your freind.

If you don't fully explain the situation, how can we fully help you?

So you just have the engine right now, which you are swapping in?

In that case, sure it makes sense to get a good header now if you have to buy one anyways. Buy one header instead of buying a stock header and then getting another one when you do get around to upgrading the rest of the exhaust.

he's already got a 2.25" exhaust, its not stock.

A header will improve performance, but one with a 2.5" collector will take some work to make it fit. Get a header with a stock sized collector and everything will be fine.

just checked exhaust its only 2inches so it looks like I have to replace the whole thing anyways. I was thinking either an apexi ws2 exhaust with a vibrant j spec header. but the exhaust is 2.36inch and the header is 2.5inch. or just go custom mandrel 2.5inch with the header. any thoughts on what a good set up would be?

For best performance, 2.5" all the way.

Its because its mandrel bent.

Call and ask how much for crush bent...it'll prolly be a good $200-300 less.

Crush bent they'll bend up right there, mandrel bent they have to weld peices of pre-bent piping together and its more time consuming.
