Exhaust / Headers question for b16a2

I got a 2000 SiR

I will be changing my headers soon , due to a small hairline crack that makes a deep tone when i punch the gas..

Anyway , anyone got headers off ebay , they seem to go pretty cheap even after the shipping. Like $100 or so..

Also I was thinking about changin the muffler at the back. I want something that sounds jus a lil louder than stock. Has anyone got a nice exhaust on an SiR, maybe I can hear.. If so please let me know.

Please reply back with recommendations ... Thankyou

It depends on what you want in a header*.

Are you looking for more power or just something to replace your stock header?

I have no exhaust on my '00 SiR, just dumps after the resonator:D, so I can't really suggest any mufflers to you other than Magnaflow. I've used a few of them in the past as well as a couple high flow magnaflow cats on my previous vehicles. Good products, great sound.

this is what i have on my Sir with a DC sports header 4 to 1
JRP has them 4 a good price.

So what is the purpose of you changing to a header as oppose to the stock exhaust manifold? for looks? or for performance?

ebay headers will do the job on the looks category. I have not personally heard any good results on dyno with ebay header on a stock b16

If you are looking for some performance gains on a stock internal b16, some headers that are at decent prices come to mind are megan or vibrant

If you are planning to build the internals, start saving up for big buck headers that will yield most performance gains in the market such as SMSP/Hytech/RMF

I'll look into that ApexI muffler and Vibrant/Megan headers

anyone know the avg prices ?? of the mufflers / headers ?

You can go to NOPI site for the Apex'i WS 2 sport cat back for prices and check our affiliates for prices on catback/headers as well. If you have more techincal questions, please feel free to do so, but if you are looking for prices, there is more than enough info on our site for you to look at.

Thanks

I'm runningthe same setup on my civic, the exhaust sounds awesome. From my experience, don't waste money on a $100 header. If you get a DC header a ceramic one is around $100 or so cheaper than the stainless one.

from my experiences don't waste your money on a DC header, they're junk....my ceramic 4-1 one rotted out pretty bad in less than a year and made crappy power on the dyno compared to my vibrant j-spec 4-2-1 w/2.5" collector.
I would recommend getting something with a 2.5" collector if you're really after performance and a true 2.5" exhaust (you'll also need a 2.5" in/out cat) and most DC headers (other than the "JDM" ones) don't have 2.5" collectors. A header with a stock size collector will bolt up to the stock cat just fine, but not offer much of a gain in terms of performance....but if you just want to replace your cracked one and don't care about performance, i'd grab a cheap megan or other ITR replica, and get one with a stock sized collector, not 2.5", b/c you'll have to get an adapter made, or get a cat with a 2.5" inlet so the collector will bolt up to the cat.
